Established in 1993 as an offshore research and development arm of a joint venture between IBM Japan and Toshiba TEC, we later on became an independent company, establishing our head office in Japan.

With more than 30 years of experience spanning the Philippines, Japan, China, and the United States, our solutions and services have evolved from software utilities for workstation printers to software app development (web, mobile, desktop). Now, we are at the forefront of IoT applications and artificial intelligence.

Our History

1993

Established as APTi-Philippines, Inc., the Research and Development (R&D) arm of Advanced Peripherals Technologies, Inc. (APTi) of Japan (a joint venture between IBM Japan and Toshiba TEC Corp.). The main business involves developing firmware, microcode, device drivers, and software utilities for workstation printers and related peripherals.

1998

EXPANSION OF BUSINESS AREAS
The company expands to cover several other areas. These include quality assurance and software testing for mobile devices, POS middleware development, business application and solutions development, and firmware and device driver development for multifunction printers.

2003

The company's Training Center, AWS' Center for Technology Incubation (ACTION), is established and inaugurated.

2005

Japan Company AWS, Inc., is founded.

2006

The company name is changed to Advanced World Systems, Inc. At the same time, Advanced World Solutions, Inc. (a separate company under PEZA) in Makati, is created to focus on business applications development.

2007

AWS wins 3 Grand Prize Awards at the e-Services Philippines 2007:
• Most Creative Application of the Year, for its “High Definition Clip Station.”
• Offshore Project of the Year, for the “Manufacturing System Development Project for SCM, Inc.”
• Outstanding Company Program for the “AWS Center for Technology Incubation (ACTION).”

2008

AWS wins anew at the e-Services Philippines 2008 Awards, winning the “Outstanding Client Application of the Year” category for the “ATM Systems Development Project” for a Major Bank in Japan.

2009

AWS Group achieves ISO/IEC 27001:2005 - the international standard for Information Security Management Systems (ISMS) certification.

2010

The company establishes AWS (Beijing), Ltd. in China

2015

The Japan parent company's official name is changed, from "AWS, Inc." to "AWS Holdings, Inc."

2016

AWS Holdings, Inc. is listed on the Mother’s market of Tokyo Stock Exchange. The company also receives the Best Software Company Award at the 10th International ICT Awards, along with recognition as ISTQB Platinum Partner.

2017

AWS Holdings, Inc.'s name is changed to Ubicom Holdings Co., Ltd. and is promoted to the First Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange. The company once again earns the distinction with the Best Company of the Year for IT & Software Development award at the 11th International ICT Awards.

2018

AWS begins venturing to Big Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence. The year also sees the birth of ATR Robot

2020

With the COVID-19 pandemic, the company undergoes smooth shift to hybrid operations under the new normal.

2023

AWS celebrates its 30th anniversary milestone.
